About the Teacher: Jared Kehe

Jared's education in music began when he was five years old. He took  group lessons at the Phoenix Feather Academy of Music for four years and then transferred to private lessons with teacher Crystal Oddo (see References). Jared took part in Certificate of Merit, a program that annually assessed his progress in piano performance and theory. In March 2010, Jared completed the Level Ten, the final level of Certificate of Merit.

In addition to preparing for Certificate of Merit each year, Jared took part in several activities to push himself as a musician. After studying piano with his high school's orchestra, Jared decided to play the piano accompaniment for a local production of Little Shop of Horrors his sophomore year.  He was then hired to play background piano music at company Christmas parties (picture to the right).

Throughout high school, Jared loved to teach. Starting his junior year, he began a formal tutoring job to help students at El Toro High School.

Jared graduated Salutatorian in El Toro's class of 2010. Following graduation, Jared performed his Senior Piano Recital (see picture on Home page) for his friends and family. This recital represented the completion of his study of piano before the college level. Meanwhile, Jared's teacher Crystal Oddo taught Jared how to teach piano, a field that combined two of Jared's passions--teaching and piano--in one.

Jared will be attending the University of California, San Diego in the fall. He will major in bioengineering and minor in piano performance.
